School Council

At Brentwood School, we are proud to have a vibrant and active Student Voice Council. Composed of elected representatives from each class, the council provides students with the opportunity to engage in democratic processes and take an active role in shaping their school community.

The Student Voice Council meets at least once a month, creating a platform where members can share suggestions, highlight areas for improvement, and propose changes. At the start of each academic year, the council identifies key priorities such as enhancing school dinners, introducing new clubs, or supporting new students through mentoring. In one initiative, the Student Voice members took on the role of the school’s ‘Eco Team,’ spearheading efforts to make the school more environmentally friendly by encouraging energy-saving practices and managing recycling programs.

During meetings, every member has the opportunity to communicate ideas and suggestions, which are then discussed collectively or shared with the head teacher for further consideration. Council representatives also gather feedback from their class groups, ensuring that every student has a voice.

In addition to their internal projects, the Student Voice Council has built connections with the wider community by inviting guest speakers to share insights about their roles. Distinguished visitors have included Members of Parliament such as Kate Green and Graeme Brady, local councillor Tom Ross, and Trafford’s Mayor, Amy White.

The Student Voice Council at Brentwood School empowers students to make meaningful contributions, develop leadership skills, and foster a sense of responsibility within their school and beyond.
