Meals

School meals are freshly prepared daily by our own Kitchen staff.  They provided a weekly menu each term and ensure all dietary requirements are catered for.

School meals cost £3 per day and can be paid for via Arbor Pay.  Please speak to the school office if you need support with this.

Students are welcome to bring in a packed lunch if they prefer.

We asked for students to keep to a regular meal choice as far as possible and if there are any changes to the meal choice, please inform the school office a week in advance.

Free School Meals

Check your eligibility here: https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/sims-trafford

Your child may qualify for free school meals if you have any of these incomes:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • The guaranteed part of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (as long as your annual gross income is £16,190 or less and you don’t get Working Tax Credit)
  • Working Tax Credit run-off after you come off Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit you applied for on or after 1 April 2018. As long as your household income is less than £7,400 a year after tax, not including any benefits

Children who receive these benefits themselves, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also qualify for free school meals.

Your child may qualify if you are an asylum seeker.

Changes from September 2026

From September 2026, there will be changes to who can and cannot receive Free School Meals (FSM).

End of transitional protection: Temporary protections that allowed children to continue to receive free school meals without rechecking eligibility will stop at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.

From September 2026, all families will need to meet the current eligibility rules to continue receiving free school meals.

Two types of benefit-based free school meals will be introduced:

  1. Targeted Free School Meals - your child may qualify if your household receives Universal Credit and has an annual household income of £7,400 or less (after tax, not including benefits).
  2. Expanded Free School Meals - your child may qualify if your household receives Universal Credit.

If you are currently receiving free school meals, you do not need to take any action at this stage.

Please use the following link to check your eligibility and confirm if you will continue to qualify from September 2026. School will then be notified if you are eligible.
