John Charles Holden
Please detail Date of appointment, Term of office and date of standing down (where applicable) and who you were appointed by.
I was appointed in 2004 by the Local Authority - renewable annually
Can you tell us something about yourself and what strengths you bring to the governing body?
I am really old (Dob 4/6/47) and have a background in business, the military and local politics. I am a parent of three grown up children and a grandparent to three really young ones. I have strong communication skills and a good working knowledge of financial systems.
Do you have any relevant business or pecuniary interests? Are you a governor in another education institution?
No relevant interests.
I am also a governor at Tyntesfield and Stretford Grammar.
Do you have any material interests arising from relationships between governors or relationships between governors and school staff?
None that I can identify.
Why did you want to be a governor at Brentwood?
In the beginning I didn’t. I knew nothing of the school or the role of a governor. After 12 years I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
What impact has being a governor at Brentwood had on you?
I do not know where to begin. The experience of truly dedicated and kind professionals and wonderfully strong parents has, I hope, made me a better person, but that is for others to judge.
