Curriculum

Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to prepare students for adulthood by developing the skills, confidence and independence needed for life beyond Brentwood.

The curriculum is built around three key areas: Independent Living, Community Participation and Preparation for Employment.

Through a personalised pathway, students develop functional English and Maths skills alongside communication, social, life and employability skills, ensuring learning is meaningful and relevant to everyday life.

Students apply their learning in practical situations, including managing money, cooking, travelling safely, accessing local community facilities and participating in work-related learning.

A strong focus on the four Preparing for Adulthood outcomes – employment, independent living, community inclusion and health and wellbeing – ensures that every student is supported to achieve their individual aspirations and EHCP outcomes.

Opportunities to gain recognised accreditation, participate in Duke of Edinburgh activities and access internal and external work experience further enhance students' personal development, resilience and readiness for adult life.
