Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our young people to have an enriched curriculum.
We welcome and encourage volunteers from our local and wider community, including College and University work experience placements. Our policy is not to accept applications from parents and carers of existing students to prevent conflicts of interest.
• To ensure that our students benefit from working with volunteers.
• To ensure that volunteers benefit from their experience of working with the school.
• To clarify expectations of the school in regard to volunteer placements
The types of activities that volunteers are engaged in include:
• Working with small groups of students under the direction of the class teacher
• Working alongside individual students under the direction of the class teacher
• Accompanying outdoor education lessons
• Supporting independence skills such as eating at lunchtime
• Supporting students with social interaction and communication skills such as when outside at break and lunch times.
Anyone wishing to become a volunteer, either for a one off event or on a more frequent basis should complete the following form.
Volunteers will be asked to complete a volunteer questionnaire with their contact details, dates that they would like to volunteer and the times they are available to help.
Volunteers who are not from a College or University placement will be interviewed prior to volunteering to determine their suitability to work with students.
